Bruins Reach Deal With Bergeron

Hearing through the grapevine (not Don Cherry's Grapevine) that the Boston Bruins have come to an agreement with Patrice Bergeron and the deal will be announced tomorrow (July 12, 2013) sometime before noon.

General Manager Peter Chiarelli has already come to terms with star goaltender Tuukka Rask on a 8 year $56 million deal and has been very clear his intentions are to sign Bergeron to an extension as he enters his final year of his contract.

Bergeron's deal will be an 8 year extension as well keeping him in Boston for the next 9 seasons and virtually guaranteeing he will end his career as a Bruin. The deal is said to be worth $52 million and will carry a $6.5 million cap hit.

The deal pays him $7.5 million beginning in 2014-15, $8.25 million for the following 2 seasons $8 million, $6.5 million, $5 million and finally $4.25 million for the final two seasons.

The deal contains a full NMC dropping to a limited NTC. Details are not yet available.
